Teaching the class

This picture has nothing to do with this post. It just so HOT here I wish I was there. So I get a letter from my Bishop, would I be willing to take 5 to 8 minutes in the 5th Sunday lesson, and teach whatever the Spirit wants me to teach? You bet, but could I please have 20? No, 5 to 8. There will be other High Priests teaching. I prayed for a topic, the great Talk "The Balm of Gilead" by Elder Boyd K Packer came to mind. It starts this way "My message is an appeal to those who are worried or restless or anxious, a plea to those who are not at peace. If your life is touched with disappointment, grief, or bitterness; if you struggle constantly with worry, frustration, with shame or anxiety, I speak to you". I hope I can do it justice in 5 to 8 minutes. It was in the New Era Aug. 1979, get a copy read it, learn from it, it could change your life. Well a least it's a great talk. I'll let you know how it went. Larry

This is my left knee, I've had three knee replacement surgeries in the past two and a half years. yes it hurts, but thanks to great personal blessings, and Prayers in my behalf, I' made great progrees. I think it's kind of cool to have those long spikes in my leg. Check out the knee cap, I don't know what it is. It feels strange to kneel on, but I have 135 degree movement, that wonderful. Happy Fourth of July!!!! Please lets work on getting better people in Washington, we need people more like our founders and less like Moa. Help keep the U.S. strong. Get them all out and start over. None a worth their wieght in dog crap, they all stink. Lets help all we can, people, and the Country need you and I to work hard, look around and fix it. Larry

GONE FISHIN' 2

This has been harder than I thought it would be (gone fishin'). I just thought in today's world any thing you can do would help others. I'm a house painter, I work at a major hotel in Vegas as their only outside painting engineer. Sometimes I get temps to help me. So I know how to paint things and make them look good. I found a guy in the area I thought would love to learn to paint houses, and earn some money for his family. But he thinks I want him to paint my house, so were still working on it. He speaks Spanish, I don't, but I know people that speak both, so maybe there's hope. I'll keep trying, I know something will turn up. I don't need my house painted, I'm a house painter. On an other note I've started using an other swear word, it involves a Rat, and someone born out of wedlock, I use it only when I talk about those Ah's in Washington. We need to get them all out of office and put people in who have integrity and know and LOVE the Constitution. Please make your voice heard, and get GOOD people in these position. Yes I'm grumpy, but for some strange reason people like me, I know I can't figure it out either. Be safe, Larry

GONE FISHIN'

If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, if you teach him how to fish he feeds himself for a lifetime. We all have talents we can use to help someone improve their lives. I think that helping people is very important, but just giving them money, food, or what ever helps only in the short run. Someone you know needs help for the long run, and you can help! I don't know how, but THE LORD does and he will help you know who and how. So come on a FISHING TRIP with me and teach some to "fish". The country, and world will be a better place. So just do it! You'll love it, you know you will. Thanks, let me know, Larry

Gray area

What is right for some and wrong for others? When is breaking the law alright? I don't have an answer, but I do have gray areas. I don't always follow the law of the land, mostly I drive to fast. I also swear to much, I was fired from teaching in Sunday school because I swear to much in class while I was teaching. I'm a very good Gospel Doc. teacher, at lease I was told I was by alot of people. If right is right and wrong is wrong, why do we as people melt the two together? When is gray O.K.? I would like to think we will always have the right to do as we please. I think we need laws, both from God and man, but I think our gray areas should be smaller. I'm working on mine,it's pretty wide. Think about making yours smaller. We all have them. Talk to you all soon.

TWO THOUSAND STRIPLING SONS

I love the story of the stripling sons. I often think about these 2000 young men who would very willingly give there lives for the freedom of their families. In the book of Alma we read this"And they were all young men, and they were exceedingly valiant for courage, and also for strength and activity; but behold, this was not all-they were men who were true at all times in whatsoever thing they were entrusted. Yea, they were men of truth and soberness, for they had been taught to keep the commandments of GOD and to walk uprightly before him." I think this is a true lesson in parenting. Their Fathers had made an oath with God that they"never would shed blood more" (Alma 53:11). In Alma 53:13 we read "But it came to pass that when they saw the danger, and many afflictions and tribulations which the Nephites bore for them, they were moved with compassion and were desirous to take up arms in the defence of their country". They were stopped by the persuasions of Helaman and his brethren. In verse 16 we read this," But behold, it came to pass they had many sons, who had not entered into a covenant that they would not take take their weapons of war to defend themselves against their enemies", so as many as were able got together called themselves Nephites and took up arms. I think that the parents of these young men must have had some fear, but they were willing to let their boys go to war for the liberty of the people. They must have some droughts when the boys would play war. The young men had to be taught how to fight sometime in their life. Maybe there was a school that taught them how fight. This is parenting at it's best, they let their young men choose for themselves the way of life they would go. The young men had been taught the truth and were willing to give their lives for the liberty of their brethren, because their Mothers had taught them well. I know it's hard to let our kids choose for themselves, but isn't that how our Father in heaven teaches us?

fear shouts so loud

It"s General Conference Sunday so this will be quick, but I love this quote "Sometimes fear shouts so loud in our ears it drowns out our Faith" What do you think?
